Adams Golf has one of the most extensive lines of hybrid golf clubs on the market today. On the company web site is a video of Champions tour player Dana Quigley who is being interviewed about the clubs in his bag at a tournament. He explains that the longest conventional iron he has is a 7 iron. He was carrying 2-6H clubs and was raving about how easy they are to hit and get up in the air. If notable pros are getting rid of their long and mid irons, we’re bound to see hybrid club sales continue to improve for regular recreational golfers.

Of course it is the latter class of players, and not the professionals, who benefit most from the attributes of hybrid golf clubs, that is, the ability to get the ball in the air easier with greater forgiveness on off-center hits.

Idea A3 Boxer

This is the latest arrival to the Adams hybrid golf clubs line. These clubs boast a very high MOI compared to other hybrids on the market. This means that the club will have less twist on impact for off-center hits, and therefore the club is forgiving on these shots. The club has a low and deep center of gravity, and this translates into getting the ball up into the air more easily. The clubface is made of a type of maraging steel which has some spring effect, similar to the spring effect of titanium drivers. The result of this is increased distance. The club also has milled grooves which allegedly provide better consistency. Lastly the club has a cambered, curved sole to lower turf interference and allow better shots for different types of lies. The Idea A3 Boxer line has 4 clubs, 2-5H, starting at 16 degrees for the 2H progressing to 26 degrees for the 5H. The line is available in women’s and senior versions, with 3-6H clubs available in both cases, and the clubs are also made for lefties. Shafts are Grafalloy ProLaunch Red 80 gram graphite in various flex choices.

Idea Pro

Adams Golf claims that this is the top hybrid on the Champions and Nationwide tours, and second on the PGA tour. It too boasts a low CG and high MOI. It has an adjustable weight port on the sole and no offset on the club. The Idea Pro comes in 1-5H clubs with lofts ranging from 16 degrees for the 1H and 26 degrees for the 5H. All but the 5H are available in left-handed versions. Shafts are Aldila Proto Blue By You Graphite.

Idea Tech OS

These are premium hybrid clubs made with multi-material technology, and they come in two versions. The 3H and 4H are called Hybrid iWoods, and generally this means they look more like a wood than an iron club in shape. The opposite is true for the 5H and 6H. All these clubs have titanium faces to increase distance, and they also have adjustable weights in the sole. Shafts are Graphite Design YS+ 60 gram and GS 75 True Temper for steel. There are women’s versions of these hybrids in 3-6H.

Idea a2 and a2OS Hybrids

The Idea a2 is for skilled to better-than-average golfers with mid to high swing speeds. As with the other Adams hybrid golf clubs lines, they boast a very high MOI compared to competition and a low and deep CG to get the ball into the air easier than conventional long irons. The a2 comes in 1-4H in both graphite and steel shafts.

The a2OS has an offset which puts the CG even farther back. These clubs make it even easier to get the ball into the air. The a2OS has women’s clubs available in 4-7H.

Adams Golf came into existence specializing in fairway woods, so it is not surprising that they are putting a lot of emphasis on their hybrid club lines which essentially extend their area of expertise. The Adams hybrid golf clubs line is, as stated earlier, one of the most extensive of any major club maker.
