This article will discuss the offerings of the Cobra Hybrid Golf Clubs line of products. These are the Baffler DWS and the Baffler Pro hybrid golf clubs

Baffler DWS

The DWS stands for “Dual Weighting System”. On the DWS line Cobra has placed two weighted segments on the sole of the club, one towards the toe and one towards the heel. The resulting weight distribution lowers the CG (center of gravity) of the clubface and increases the MOI (moment of inertia) which essentially causes less twist on off-center his and therefore allows more club forgiveness on those shots. goals for just about every hybrid club on the market. The clubhead is made of advanced materials including a 17-4 stainless steel body and a 465 Maraging steel insert. A google search revealed that maraging steel has special properties which include strength and malleability, and thus it is a material useful for creating a spring effect. The face of the club is larger than previous models and offers face flex for longer shots due to the properties of the maraging steel insert. The sole is “sculpted” to offer more solid hits from various lies. Shafts offered are Nippon NS Pro 950 for steel and Aldila NV-HL 65 for graphite. Cobra/Golf Pride Tour Velvet 50D grips are standard. This line of clubs can be used by players of all levels of ability.

The Baffler DWS line consists of six clubs, a 1-6H varying in loft from 16 degrees for the 1H to 29 degrees for the 6H club. The 1H only comes with stiff shafts, and both stiff and regular shafts are offered for the 2-6H. Happily Cobra offers a women’s version of the Baffler DWS, 3-7H clubs. They vary in loft from 23 degrees for the 3H to 35 degrees for the 7H, always in 3 degree intervals. Senior clubs are available as well in 3-6H versions. Women’s and senior shafts are offered on those respective models, and all Cobra hybrids come in both right and left handed versions.

Baffler Pro

As the name suggests, the Baffler Pro line is targeted toward low-handicap players. 4 clubs are offered as 1-4 hybrids and range in loft from 16 degrees to 23 degrees for the 4H. These clubs do not sport the DWS weighting system and so there is less emphasis on accommodating off-center hits or getting the ball in the air easily, which is reasonable for players of high ability. A higher swing weight and stiff shafts are provided, once again accommodating better players. The clubhead has a 17-4 stainless steel body and a 275 Maraging steel face insert which creates a spring effect and thus more distance. Golf Pride 50D Round grips are standard in this line. Shafts differ from the DWS line and include True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 for steel and Fujikura Speeder Baffler Pro for graphite.

I don’t find other options for shafts on the Cobra hybrid golf clubs web pages. I found this a bit unusual, as many of the other top club makers have numerous shaft options.
