Ping Hybrid Golf Clubs- 2007

Ping has added two new hybrid golf clubs to its product line in 2008.  Joining the G5 and Rapture hybrids (read about these by clicking here: Ping Hybrid Golf Clubs) are the G10 and Rhapsody hybrid lines.

Ping G10 Hybrid Golf Clubs

The G10 club heads are made from 17-4 stainless steel and have the pleasing “sloped crown” top which is typical of Ping hybrids.  This allows weight to be redistributed, in particular to an internal “weight

pad” at the bottom of the club which is parallel to the ground.  This will lower the CG of the club and place it farther back from the club face resulting in making it easier to get the ball up into the air.  The club face is machined to a variable thickness and plasma welded, and this allegedly increases ball speed and makes for greater distance.  Variable thickness club faces generally are made of materials that provide a certain amount of spring effect to get higher ball speed.

There are 6 hybrids in this model, 1-6H.  The loft is 15 degrees for the 1H, 18 degrees for the 2H, 21 degrees for the 3H, 24 degrees for the 4H, 28 degrees for the 5H, and 32 degrees for the 6H.  Both steel and graphite shafts are available for these clubs.

Ping Rhapsody Hybrid Golf Clubs

The Rhapsody line of hybrids essentially picks up where the Rapture line leaves off.  That is, the Rhapsody line of hybrids is a replacement for mid-irons.  All the normal Ping design features are included to optimally reposition the CG and increase the MOI of the clubs.  There are 3 hybrids in this model, and they have loft angles of 26, 30, and 34 degrees, so these would effectively replace your 5, 6, and 7 irons.  Recall that the G5 model has 4 hybrids with lofts of 16, 19, 22, and 25 degrees.

All 4 product lines of Ping hybrid golf clubs are complete sets.  That is, there are drivers, fairway metals, hybrid golf clubs, and irons for the G5, G10, Rapture, and Rhapsody models.  This means that the hybrids are designed to go along with the rest of the club set, and they should therefore provide the proper amount of distance between clubs and not leave distance gaps for the golfer.

Ping is obviously one of the elite club makers, and their lines of hybrid golf clubs are no doubt quality instruments.
