Taylor Made Hybrid Golf Clubs

Taylor Made certainly has a well-conceived line of hybrid golf clubs.  They have a hybrid that will be useful for any level of player, be he/she beginner, below average, average, above average, or professional.  For average players and below, many of whom have a tendency to slice the golf ball, Taylor Made hybrids come with a choice of hook biases to help correct this problem.  Here are some comments and updates for 2008.

The Burner Rescue

This line of hybrids is basically the same as last year, and you can

read a full description by clicking here: Taylor Made Hybrid Golf Clubs.  The only comment to add is that the Burner line has a hook bias of about 10 yards, so it is designed to work well for average golfers who generally have a moderate slice.

The Rescue TP

The Rescue TP line was designed based on inputs from Taylor Made’s large tour professional sponsor group.  Once again, the clubs have not changed from last year’s specifications, and you can read about these by clicking here: Taylor Made Hybrid Golf Clubs.  It should be added that for this line of clubs, contrary to the normal tendency in hybrid golf club design, the CG of the clubs has been moved closer to the face.  This will help induce a low and penetrating ball flight, which is what highly skilled players, who consistently hit solid shots, seek.  Players of this caliber are not worried about getting the ball up into the air more easily.

r7 Draw Rescue

The r7 Draw Rescue line has specs similar to the Burner Rescue, but this line of hybrid golf clubs has a larger draw bias to accommodate golfers who normally slice the ball rather dramatically.  Beginners up to some above average players might benefit from using these clubs.  The key to choosing one of these clubs over the other is the amount of slice the player normally has on his longer shots.

The Rescue Dual Hybrid

This line of “Moveable Weight Technology” hybrids is not mentioned prominently on the Taylor Made web site this year.  It is mentioned in some of their comparison graphics, however.  I get the impression that this line may be in the process of being phased out, but this is not certain.  The movable weights allow the golfer to adjust for personal hook bias needs, but the other clubs in the Taylor Made line do cover all the options people might want.  I suggest someone looking for one of these clubs either contact Taylor Made or check out some of the golf warehouse sales sites which might still have some inventory.

The Taylor Made line of hybrid golf clubs is very successful, and as stated earlier, it is a well conceived lineup of clubs.  If you are aware of your level of proficiency and especially if you tend to slice the ball on long shots, these clubs might be right for you.
